I got a late birthday present from a good friend tonight. He kept telling me that it’s coming and it’ll be late, but he wouldn’t tell my why it’s so late. Tonight, I finally got it.
For my birthday Micah made me an iPad book!
I’ve been talking to him for a long time about wanting to make an illustrated book. So he made this fancy present just to tell me that I should do what I want. Which is what he’s always told me ever since I knew him in college.
I don’t pride myself for having a ton of friends. But I do think that I have a few really good (the best, really) friends. The kind of friends who go out of their way to do nice things for me. They’re like family to me.
So thank you!
Go check it out in the App Store! If you can, you should shell out the $0.99 because it’s an adorable book, it rhymes (sometimes), you can draw on it, and anyone who would do this for a friend, is awesome.

My Sensu Brush came yesterday! It’s very rare that I’m the one with the new toy around here. But everyone got super excited, we all gathered around and spent the last half hour of work playing with it on our iPads.
I stayed after work to do this sketch, using the new drawing app Micah told me about, Paper. It’s the first time I’ve ever attempted to draw on my iPad. I’ve been avoiding it because I couldn’t find an app that’s not complicated and bloated. Obviously I need more practice to familiarize myself with the new medium, but I’m excited to find something that I’ll have fun playing with.
Paper’s interface is really nice, because it’s so simple. It’s the most intuitive drawing interface I’ve used so far: just your drawing tools and a palette of nine colors, compared to other super complicated apps, like Artrage and Auryn Ink, which allow you to control everything from texture, fades/oppacity, brush sizes, etc. They’re suppose to help you create realistic watercolor/paint effects, but they end up being a barrier from using the tools to just start drawing, ya know?
It’s the most fun I’ve got out of this thing since I got it months ago. I honesty have been using my iPad as a e-reader. Plus, someone told me about another drawing app that I’m also excited to try, Artset. It looks almost as simple as Paper, but has more drawing tools and colors, which would be useful if you want to do something more than sketching, like a full on painting!
