In the midst of World War II, many great films were still being released into the theaters. On August 13, 1942, Bambi had its US premiere at the Radio City Music Hall. It didn’t do so well in the box office, but, no matter, because for the children (and their adults) who watched it, there was nothing better than a little Walt Disney magic to escape to. — 1942: Contemporary Artists Depict the Year 1942.
